One Tank Weekends
Thu Jul 31, 2008
Is this going on in your house. You’re sitting in your favorite recliner and your motorhome or trailer is sitting in its usual parking spot. You begin to get the urge to travel, but your vacation doesn’t start for another month, or your vacation is over, or kids have band practice, or this or that! In your mind, you can still see the RV entrance door swing open and the family come pouring our to admire the shear splendor of your new surroundings. And just when you can see yourself setting off in a boat to show the kids your skill at fishing, it all begins to slowly fade away when you begin to think about a three-letter word:
G – A – S. But, hold on and get back in that boat!!
Let’s face it; even though fuel is lowering slightly, the economy is still hitting us all pretty hard.
When you think about it, even in the best of times, if you purchased a motorhome or contemplated a purchase, you never did so because of the fuel economy. Then why now?
Let’s start with the fact that you’re probably not the type to want to stay home all of the time watching television and wondering where the kids are. The thought of being surrounded by nature and all the sounds and scents she has to offer and taking a hike up the nearest trail or wander on the seashore in the warmth of the early morning sun, or sitting with the family around the campfire telling stories and roasting mash mellows is more appealing to you.
So, what will a tank of fuel give you? The answer is simple - Freedom!
We are so fortunate to live in Southern California because of the climate and also because there are so many things to see and do; all within a short distance from home. You don’t have to travel very far in your RV to enjoy our lakes, mountains and streams.
Just down the road are parks, marine life, sailing and more. Since you own a motorhome or have just purchase one, you take your entire family away for a weekend or longer and do it all within a reasonable budget.
When you compare the costs of Hotels, restaurants and getting around, an RV begins to make sense. California has destinations that you can head out to for less than a tank of fuel and there are plenty of activities when you arrive.
Altmans Winnebago has put together a list of “One Tank Destinations” just for you and will publish one campground in each monthly newsletter. A complete copy will be available at our Carson and Colton locations. Whether you like museums, fishing, amusement parks, or historical sites, your copy of “One Tank Destinations” is waiting for you.
Aaahhh, don’t you just love the smell of your campfire.
